Tau Beta Pi is the National Engineering Honor Society and was founded in 1885 at Lehigh University. Since that time, Tau Beta Pi has initiated more than 526,000 outstanding engineers. In addition, there are currently 242 collegiate chapters in the United States, making it the world's largest engineering honor society. Tau Beta Pi's mission is to promote integrity and excellence in engineering and to foster a spirit of liberal culture.
New York Tau is the collegiate chapter of Binghamton University and was founded in 1991. The chapter has been recognized with several notable awards, including the R.C. Matthews Outstanding Chapter Award in 1993, the R.H. Nagel Most Improved Chapter in 2007, and for the past five years the Chapter Projects Award for superior service projects.
